24 heures vélo

Le samedi 18 et dimanche 19 avril, nous allons participer aux 24 heures vélo de Braine-le-Comte. Avec quelques amis, nous formerons une équipe Amani Kids. Nous y essaierons de récolter les derniers quelques centaines d’euros nécessaires pour atteindre notre objectif de 10.000 euros. Départ prévu à 13h00 à l’école normale de Braine-le-Comte. Venez nombreux pour nous soutenir!

On Saturday and Sunday April 18 and 19, we will participate at the 24 hours cycling event in our town. Together with some friends, we will form the Amani kids team. We will try to raise the last few hundred euros needed to achieve our objective of 10.000 euros. Start is scheduled at 1pm.

Op zaterdag en zondag 18 en 19 april, nemen we deel aan de 24 uren fietswedstrijd van Braine-le-Comte. Samen met een aantal vrienden zullen we het Amani kids team vormen. We proberen er de laatste paar honderd euro te werven die we nodig hebben om ons obbjectief van 10.000 euro te halen. Start is voorzien omstreeks 13h00.

Cette semaine, nous avons eu plusieurs contacts avec la presse. Mon papa est passé sur Sud Radio et sur Vivacité et nous venons de faire un interview avec un journaliste de La Dernière Heure, un des plus grands journaux de Belgique. Le premier article vient d’apparaître dans l’édition de ce matin (dimance 18 janvier), vous pouvez le lire ci-dessous. La Dernière Heure nous consacrera un article par semaine, jusqu’à notre départ le 20 février! Il nous reste plus ou moins €3.000 à récolter pour atteindre notre objectif, faites connaître notre projet à toutes vos connaissances! Last week, we have had several media contacts. My father was interviewed on a local (Sud Radio) and a national radio station (Vivacité) and we just had a nice talk with a journalist from La Dernière Heure, a national news paper. The first article was published in this morning’s edition (Sunday January 18), you can read the article above (in French). La Dernière Heure promised us one article per week up till our departure on February 20th! We still need approximately € 3.000 to achieve our objective, so please share our project and blog with all your friends and relatives. Afgelopen week hebben we een aantal contacten gehad met de pers. Mijn vader had een interview op een lokaal (Sud Radio) en een nationaal radio station (Vivacité) en we hebben net een boeiend gesprek gehad met een journalist van La Dernière Heure, een nationale krant. Het eerste artikel is verschenen deze morgen (Zondag 18 januari), je kan het lezen hierboven (in het Frans). La Dernière Heure heeft ons een artikel per week beloofd, tot ons vertrek op 20 februari. We moeten nog € 3.000 verzamelen om ons doel te bereiken, breng aub zo veel mogelijk vrienden en kennissen op de hoogte van ons project en onze blog. Concert de Noël – Christmas Concert

Aujourd’hui, les presque 300 élèves de l’école des Carrières à Soignies ont chanté lors de leur concert de Noël. Que du bonheur! Vous pouvez visionner les photos en cliquant dessus.
Les bénéfices du marché de Noël seront destinés à Amani. Nous devrions connaître les résultats finaux demain! Un tout grand merci à tous les élèves et instituteurs de mon ancienne école!

Today, almost 300 children of my old school have participated in their Christmas concert. Amazing! You can view the pictures below by simply clicking on them.
All benefits of the Christmas market will go to Amani. We will know the final results tomorrow! A big thank you to all pupils and teachers at my old school!

Vandaag hebben de bijna 300 leerlingen van mijn oude school hun Kerstconcert gezongen. Zalig! Je kan de foto’s hieronder bekijken door er eenvoudig op te klikken.
Alle opbrengsten van de Kerstmarkt gaan naar Amani. Morgen weten we het eindresultaat! Hartelijk dank aan alle leerlingen en leraars van mijn oude school!

Generator arrived at Amani!

Hi Bart and Alexandre,

Greetings from all of us at Amani. I hope this finds you both well. Just
wanted to let you know that after months in transit, the generator has
finally arrived at Amani! It came in a white van this afternoon and it
took about 6 guys to unload. We started it up and tested it out. It
hummed nicely, like it was supposed to. Now, we’re having the wheels put
on it.

The construction for the shed where the generator will be placed is just
starting. We had the plans drawn up a couple weeks ago and building will
begin this week. I’ll send photos as things progress.

Attached you’ll find a snapshot of the generator just after it was
unloaded in Amani’s storeroom.

- raised € 3,300
- from approximately 150 people (mainly my father’s colleagues at Ingram Micro)

We have added our first sponsors from China, Hong Kong and Sweden, bringing our total on 22! Our objective is to find sponsors from minimum 100 countries, so please, if you know anybody from any other nationality, ask them to join us in our fundraising effort!
